Aishwarya Tripathi is an independent journalist based in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. She has reported on-ground in Delhi and Bangalore, covering anti-CAA protests, Covid-19 crisis, JNU fee hike protests, Farmers' Protest. Her work has appeared in The Wire, LiveWire and The Hindu. As part of the fellowship, she published a two part story of rural Unnao where masses experienced information black-out during Covid pandemic and couldn't associate with urban methods to deal with the crisis. The story talks about looking beyond routine communication strategies amongst information dark masses. In the process of reporting, Aishwarya was helped and mentored by Nidhi Jamwal.

The virus aside, it was the lack of information about COVID19 that killed many in the second wave in rural India


When the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic hit India, the daily fatalities ran into thousands. Rural India bore the brunt of it. What made it worse was the absence of credible information about the disease, both with the villagers and the overworked frontline health workers. A two-part report from rural Unnao in Uttar Pradesh.
