To celebrate 75 years of the Indian Constitution on Republic Day (26 January 2024), NFI initiated a year-long campaign, Samvidhan Se Hum (“we are from the Constitution”). The campaign’s objectives go beyond raising awareness, aiming to help people practice the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Through this initiative, we are reigniting conversations around constitutional values and their relevance in everyday life, with a special focus on youth, particularly women and members of marginalised communities.
Under this program, we launched a podcast series, a video-making competition, an art exhibition and a calendar celebrating the founding mothers of the Indian Constitution.
Podcast: Samvidhan Ki Baat
To educate people about the Constitution of India on the occasion of Republic Day, we launched a fortnightly podcast series in Hindustani, a language spoken and understood by a large number of people in India. The series aims to discuss some of the most crucial aspects of the Indian Constitution, its journey, and its context in the simplest language and lingo for mass outreach.
Hamari Virasat: Exhibition Spotlighting Women Artisans of India
On the eve of International Women’s Day (7 March 2024), NFI—in collaboration with Hand for Handmade Foundation and We, the People Abhiyan—launched Hamari Virasat to spotlight India’s artisan sector and its crucial role in nation-building and empowering women. NFI believes women artisans play a vital role in preserving traditional crafts, yet their contributions often go unrecognized—much like the founding mothers who helped draft the Indian Constitution.
This exhibition was organized as part of NFI’s year-long campaign, Samvidhan Se Hum, and remained on display for more than two weeks. Several related activities were held alongside the exhibition, including “Print Your Preamble” by the Reclaim Constitution campaign. Click here to see snippets of the exhibition
Video Making Contest: Constitution In My Life
Aimed at showcasing creative expressions on the relevance of the Constitution in the lives of Indians, NFI invited 58-second videos on what the Constitution means to citizens of the country. To promote linguistic diversity and inclusivity, participants were free to submit videos in any of the scheduled languages of the Constitution.
We received around 200 submissions. Three winners will be selected based on content, effort, and quality, and seven entries will receive special mention in various language categories. On Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April 2024), a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 will be awarded to the first winner, Rs. 20,000 to the second, and Rs. 15,000 to the third.
