Ankuran - Strengthening Women-led CSOs

Focused on strengthening grassroots civil society organisations (CSOs) led by women from marginalised communities, Ankuran program collaborates with 20 women leaders from Dalit, Adivasi, and religious minority communities working in three states of East and Central India: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.

The initiative builds capacity, supports leadership, facilitates dialogue, and mobilises resources to advance social justice and grassroots change. By concentrating on institutional growth, social inclusion, democratic engagement, and inculcating constitutional values, Ankuran strengthens the efforts of these leaders to create a lasting impact in marginalised communities.

NFI started this initiative in 2022, and it is an ongoing program. By focusing on diversity, gender balance, and capacity building, Ankuran has contributed to creating stronger, more resilient grassroots organisations equipped to serve marginalised communities.

Meet Our Partners

As part of Ankuran, NFI has supported 7 partners in Odisha, 5 in Chhattisgarh, and 8 in Madhya Pradesh. These organisations address a wide range of issues—from teaching adolescent girls and supporting women in sports to promoting constitutional values aimed at eradicating gender and caste biases, strengthening women against domestic violence, supporting rural transformation, preventing child marriage, and more.

By enhancing social inclusion, democratic engagement, and institutional sustainability, Ankuran enables partners to expand their reach, strengthen teams, and become more effective advocates for social justice.
