2020 Award for Community Action & Leadership
Announcement
New Delhi, 22 November 2019
Since 2003, NFI has been giving awards for Community Action and Leadership in the memory of Bharat Ratna late C. Subramaniam, the founder Chairman of NFI, and so far has provided recognition to over 150 mid-career voluntary sector workers and community leaders. A large number of people in the voluntary sector lack the benefits of formal educational qualifications and opportunities for upward mobility. These include mid-level workers in civil society organizations, and community leaders who do excellent work to address local issues. Many spend long years working at the grassroots level despite modest salaries and daunting work conditions. The civil society sector draws its strength from and depends on their vast experience and depth of understanding of issues at the grassroots.
