P Sainath
P. Sainath is the Founder Editor of the People’s Archive of Rural India, and one of India's most eminent experts on agrarian and rural issues having reported from rural India for over three decades. He was earlier the Rural Affairs Editor of The Hindu. Since 1994, the inception year of NFI's Media Awards programme, P Sainath has been closely involved in the development of the programme, the selection of journalists and the themes on which the fellowship focuses. In 2007, he was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award, Asia’s most prestigious prize, for his journalism. He won the World Media Summit Global Award for Excellence 2014, in Public Welfare reporting. Sainath has taught at journalism schools in India and abroad, mentoring students as well as training media professionals. His book 'Everybody Loves a Good Drought' (Penguin India,1996), now in its 49th print, was declared a Penguin Classic in January 2013.
